The Sterling
Downtown Chicago
Hailed as "elegant", "lithe" and "eye catching" by Pulitzer Prize winning Chicago
Tribune architecture critic, Blair Kamin, the Sterling has been a welcome addition
to the downtown Chicago skyline.
The full range of Royal Imperial Groups considerable development skills are
evident at the Sterling. Royal Imperial Group assembled the parcel, chose an architect,
developed the design, selected a contractor, supervised construction and delivered
the project on time and on budget.
Royal Imperial Group's vision for the land was one of a full service luxury
apartment tower and that's what it delivered. Along with 389 apartments and 615
space garage, the 50 story building also contains 35,000 square feet of retail
space.
The attractiveness of the apartment tower, while more difficult to achieve
technically, increased its value. The Sterling was sold to a condo developer as
luxury condominiums soon after ground breaking. The building's units were recognized
as having the right mix of luxury and function and along with the great location
caused it to sell briskly.
Tenants have been quick to flock to the retail space and include such national
credit tenants as CVS Drugs, Starbucks, 7-Eleven, and others.
This mixed use of project just across the river from Chicago's loop has been
both an artistic and financial success. Critics have lauded the building design
and all proforma projections have been exceeded. This unique combination is often
dismissed as being difficult if not impossible to attain. At Sterling, Royal Imperial
Group's development team archived this rare distinction.
The Sterling has been a noted addition to Chicago's internationally acclaimed
architectural reputation and is another Royal Imperial Group success story
